Real estate in Nigeria

Going Into Real Estate Or Building In Nigeria? Be Sure Of The Property And The People You Are Dealing With! Real estate is the land and building attached to it. Real Property is the legal rights that run with land and building; leasehold, leased fee, fee simple and freehold. Real estate is the 2-3 dimensional physical aspect of real property. Example of real property is fee simple or freehold; ownership in perpetuity except when interrupted by police power and or eminent domain of the state. When a state in Nigeria grants one a Certificate of Occupancy, even though it is for a term certain (leasehold), it is considered real property given the initial term and renewal options. For land one owns in their village via Right of Occupancy, it is freehold, because such land is owned in perpetuity but is still subject to police power and eminent domain.

THE 10 STEPS IN DEVELOPING A STRATEGIC SOCIAL MEDIA PLAN FOR YOUR BUSINESS

Quantifying an ROI from social media is only possible after you’ve developed a strategic plan that will make measurement both clear and easy. When it comes to social media “80% of marketers begin with tactics instead of goals” – eMarketer Report. Here’s how to build a strategic social media plan to ensure that you don’t waste time or money on tactics that might work. Why do you need to measure social media ROI? It will never be possible to measure all aspects of social media ROI. However, this is not a good enough reason not to measure social media ROI. Currently, only 20% of marketers actively measure ROI - eMarketer Report While it’s important to balance ROI with metrics that show more incremental value, if a business is to increase profitability, customers, and to grow, then ROI remains the critical metric and the single best measure of success over the longer term.

Construction industry optimistic of 300% investment value growth by 2021

For the building and construction industry in Nigeria, growth prospect is very high and expectation among industry players is that by 2020, the country, alongside India, will enjoy higher growth rates than notable nations like China, predicting that by 2021, the industry will triple its investment value. The contribution and impact of this industry to the economy cannot be neglected as it has become a veritable index when it comes to employment generation for both skilled and unskilled employment in Nigeria, and it is estimated that this industry contributes 3.2 percent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Solomon Ogunbusola, president, Federation of Construction Industries (FOCI), who gave these hints, pointed out, however, that despite these prospects, the state of the nation’s economy has somewhat overstretched members of the association as they task themselves to meet up with contracts awarded to them at various levels. He added that these members operate under ser...

What To Do When Your New Job Is Nothing Like What You Expected

Part of my job is to talk to job seekers and help them either ramp up their job search, to improve the quality of their efforts when it comes to how to  write their cover letter  or  résumé  or to setup a path for long-term career success if they’re already in a job. This week I talked to a woman who was recently hired by an organization only three weeks ago. On the phone, she sounded distressed. It turns out that the job title she thought she was hired for did not match up to the daily expectations of her boss. All too common do we hear about this sort of mixup: employers hire for a certain job title but (accidentally or purposefully) don’t accurately represent the duties and expectations of the role. In addition to feeling out of her element, said that she felt she was being excluded from significant meetings by her supervisor. When she expressed interest in participating in important meetings, her supervisor’s response was,“You will probably be lost.” ...

The governor said the scheme was the state government’s answer to the limited access to housing and one of the strategies to improve living standards. “With this scheme, we are moving our people from desperation for housing to an orderly and predictable living. And, that is our dream and I have always believed that when people can dream things, their hands can do it. “Our journey really begins today; Lagosians should begin to put their steps in that ladder, the ladder to prosperity that we have d...

CBN gives clean bill of health to 832 MFBs

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Tuesday gave a clean bill of health to all the 832 microfinance banks (MFBs) in the country, saying it is generally satisfied with their operating conditions. There had been an earlier report that the CBN was planning to shutdown up to 600 MFBs on the basis of poor performance, but in a reaction, the apex bank said such insinuations were all false and unfounded. Out of 832 microfinance banks, four of them are now national, 75 are state, and the remaining 753 are unit MFBs. Olufemi Fabamwo, CBN director, other financial institutions supervision department (OFISD), confirmed to BusinessDay last night that the story was untrue and that in fact rather than closing shops, some of the institutions are already upgrading their levels of operations as they meet required guidelines. His words, “Out of 832 microfinance banks, four of them are now national, 75 are state, and the remaining 753 are unit MFBs. And it is a continuous thing...
